In 2016 the average age of a gamer was listed to be 35, and yet the most common age of people buying the games are 38. This is interesting because it may mean that older people are buying the games for younger people.
People are also more frequently playing games on their phones, most likely because of the accessibility of phone and the cheaper prices of mobile games.
In six years the number of women playing games also hasn't gone up much, and has only increased by one percent. This is shocking, because a lot more women should be playing games, and if they aren't that may mean the games aren't being marketed to them.
There are many game genres, yet not a lot of them seem to be marketed for women. They are usually marketed for men or an inclusive audience. This many draw in some attention, but most of it may be lost by women depending on the genre.
