We were introduced to Substance Painter, a texturing program, used by a lot of modellers. At first glance, it seems very similar to photoshop, which is useful because of the familiarity.
The first thing we were able to do was choose a material, which effected the way light would bounce off the model in the program. We could also add texture and move it around at the edges to make it mesh at the UV seems better.
The next thing we learned to do was draw on an object with a different material, like say if you wanted an oil stain on an object, the oil you painted on would react differently to the light.
It's a lot faster to use than photoshop because of the amount of options you're granted, such as:
-layering different textures.
-drawing and scratching away upper levels to reveal a lower one.
-changing the colours and properties of individual textures.
It was overall fascinating to learn how simple one of the best programs to texture an object is.
